5 Signs You’ve Encountered A Narcissist

People nowadays have a rather inflated sense of their own importance. They simply became too self-aware and that sometimes lead to the state experts call “narcissistic personality disorder”. Various studies over the years have shown that 1 in 10 people in their early 20s is suffering from this particular disorder. Naturally, this means thousands and thousands of people are dealing with narcissists on a daily basis, and that is not an easy task.

However, spotting a narcissist is not as easy as you probably thought. Whether you’re meeting people in real life, via dating platforms or on some kind of party line, detecting a narcissist is never easy. Therefore, if you’re starting a romantic, or any other kind of relationship with someone new, make sure to check out these 5 signs that may indicate you’re dealing with a narcissist.

Narcissists Only Want To Talk About Themselves

Conversation, especially between two partners, should be a two-way street. Both sides should reciprocate in order to lead a normal conversation. When you’re having a conversation with a narcissist, however, the case is very much different. These people only want to talk about themselves and what’s going on in their lives. If by any chance you manage to say something about your own life, they’ll quickly steer the conversation back to them.

Don’t get us wrong, most of them are not rude, they’re just obsessed with themselves and they always seem to find a decent and polite way to monopolize the conversation. Narcissists will do anything in order to be in full control of the communication. They will either talk 100% of the time, or they won’t respond at all when you’re talking. Either way, they’re in charge.

They’re All About Physical Appearance

Narcissists are not that into deep conversations and philosophical discussions. Most of them are simply too focused on their clothing, outlook, and overall physical appearance. If you go out on a date with a narcissistic person, you’ll notice they spend more time observing their own look, instead of focusing on you.

You Won’t Find A Single Bad Picture Of Them Online

We all love having good photos of ourselves on social media, but every now and then, we post some goofy and bad photos, you know, just for fun. However, narcissists would rather die before having bad photos on their Facebook or Instagram. So, if you can’t find a single bad photo of your date online, you might be dealing with a narcissist.

You Realize Flattery Is The Best Way To Deal With These People

Trust us, you don’t want to create any kind of conflict with a narcissistic person. However, if that does happen, you’ll find that flattery is the best way to get out of the awkward situation. This is a sure sign you’ve encountered a narcissist.

They Always Have Tons Of Excuses

Watch out for this one because it’s definitely one of the most obvious signs you’ve encountered this type of person. When these people do something wrong, they will find a way to blame it on you or someone else entirely, but they will never take responsibility for their own actions. Narcissists are always the victims and they’re not ashamed to be overly dramatic in order to prove it.
